So, yes, I’m still alive. I know it’s been months, but hey, I’m back! And with exciting news.
Prior to announcing the release of the second installment of my urban fantasy series, I did a thing…and that’s to give Bloodline Maharlika a new look!
The artist behind this amazing work of art is Jojo Cunanan who’s also friends with Robert Wong, the first artist who designed Maharlika. I’m really very lucky to know people who’re so creative to help me bring something like this to life.
In this version, we see tough-looking Owenn facing up to the Bakunawa. I loved the details in this revamp. The minimalist design also put focus on the two characters at play here, and I really had to hand it to Jojo’s eye for detail—he was able to capture what I envisioned in the cover. This was what the progression from line art to full color looked like:
Here are some of the studies Jojo made. I think they’re all awesome, though. It made the choice very difficult.

You can find more of Jojo’s art in his portfolio. Maharlika copies (both e-book and print) can be ordered here.
And since I did mention Bloodline Magiting‘s upcoming release, it will also have its own cover reveal here. I’m cooking up something exciting as well, so I hope you do watch this space!
